Here are some of my most commonly-asked questions.
If there's anything else you'd like to know, send it my way!
Q: How do your branding sessions work?

A: They typically happen in various stages.
First, we strategize
This is where we’ll uncover your brand’s purpose, story and intentions, and strategize our creative vision for our shoot(s). We’ll pinpoint exactly what your goals are with the imagery, and how we’re going to get there — be it photo, video, or both.
Next, we plot
This is where we come up with where, when and how! We’ll cover any follow-up questions you may have, establish the finer details and build a comprehensive plan to ensure your imagery meets and surpasses your vision.
Finally, we shoot!
This is where it all comes together; we’ll spend time collaborating to create the imagery we’ve spent time planning and let the pieces all come together. After editing, you’ll have a gallery of images and/or video(s) for you to use on your website, social media, or wherever you see fit.
Q: Could you describe your booking process? Do you require a deposit?

A: Yes! To book a shoot, you can fill out my inquiry form on my contact page – from there we will have a consultation call where we create a vision and discuss all the details & logistics. Then, a non-refundable deposit of 1/3 of the total fee is required to secure your session and cover preparation time. Then, we shoot!
Q: What is your pre-wedding + booking process like?

A: First, I have a consultation call with the couple where we discuss all the big details such as date, time, location, and biggest wishes for their imagery (be it photo, video or both).
If we do a pre-wedding shoot together, such as an engagement, bridal or boudoir session, it's a great practice run for the big day. But, no matter what, I stay in close contact with my couples until their wedding day, when I'm there to capture every sweet beat!
Q: What is your post-wedding editing process like? Delivery time?

A: The very first thing I do after a wedding is transfer all content onto my hard drives so they're backed up and secure.
Then, the editing process begins! For video editing, I use Adobe Premiere Pro 2024 and Encoder, and for photos, I edit using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
With video edits, I sift through all the footage of the day, find the sweetest, key moments (both big and small), and slice/chop/season/rearrange it all into a mini-movie that tells a story, evokes a feeling and flows with the music & audio of the day. Turnaround time is 4-12 weeks.
With photo edits, I eliminate any photos where the bride is sneezing (or anyone is blinking) and get rid of any distracting signage, bloops and bleeps, and blemishes (if requested). I adjust highlights/shadows and color correct each image to make a consistent color theme throughout the gallery. Then, the high-resolution images are uploaded to an online gallery for folks to access & download if they'd like. Prints are also an available option in some of my packages.
Q: What moments of a wedding are your favorite to capture?

A: I love the in-between moments when everyone is fully present and my camera is the last thing on their minds. This is when true quirks and smiles come out – often leading to the photos that remind people how they really felt in a moment, which I'm always striving to do.
Q: Do you focus on the setting as much as the subjects?

A: Absolutely! I believe the subject and setting have a symbiotic relationship. The environment not only influences how the subjects behave and interact but also provides essential context to the story we’re telling. I often capture the setting in its own individual photos, which helps to visually tie the gallery together. I tend to capture whatever catches my eye, which tends to ensure both the subjects and their surroundings are equally (and beautifully!) represented.
Q: Do you charge extra for travel?

A: Yes, I do have travel fees, but I aim to make it as seamless as possible for my clients. Here’s how it works:
-
Complimentary Travel: If your location is within 30 miles of my current base, travel is complimentary. I spend the majority of my time in Virginia (Richmond and Alexandria) and New York (NYC and Long Island).
-
East Coast Travel Rates: For locations along the East Coast between North Carolina and New York, I charge a flat travel fee of $150.
-
And Beyond Travel Rates: For locations beyond this region, I charge a based on the IRS standard rate of 67 cents per mile, or airfare.
-
Lodging/airfare: If lodging or airfare is required, reimbursement is requested for those expenses.
-
All of this will be determined ahead of time and agreed upon. No surprises!
I frequently travel and am excited to work with clients in various places. I aim to make the process smooth and straightforward, ensuring we can bring your vision to life no matter where you are.
